Interview with Georgie Jones – Co-founder of Like Minders babysitting agency

Co-founder of Like Minders, a leading London baby-sitting and childcare agency, Georgie lives in Battersea, South West London with husband Laurence and 8 month old son Maximilian.

What inspired you to start your business?
I noticed a gap in the market for affordable, flexible and trustworthy babysitting and childcare. I created Like Minders which allows everyone to have access to fantastic childcare as and when they need it.

How do you juggle your business and the baby?
It’s pretty non-stop but I am very organized which is a bonus, plus I have some help with Max from our Like Minders girls.

What are your favourite places to shop for babies?
I love The Little White Company, Baby Ralph Lauren and of course Peter Jones (which I’m sure Max thinks is his second home!). I live near Northcote Road (in London’s Nappy Valley) so always pop into JoJo Maman Bébé and Petit Bateau for bits and bobs.

Where do you and Maximilian like to hang out?
Wandsworth Common, the Kings Road and we love meeting friends in Wimbledon Village.

Tell us about your best holiday with the little one?
We went to the Anassa in Cyprus, which is a stunning hotel and has a ‘Baby Go Lightly’ service so you don’t need to take anything baby related with you. They provide monitors, prams, toys and just about anything you can think of, so plenty of room for all of your own clothes and shoes!

What are your indulgences?
Mulberry handbags and going out for dinner with my husband, one of the perks of my business is that I can always find a babysitter!

What are your favourite newborn baby gifts?
A cashmere baby blanket from Brora, or a Jellycat bunny.

Please share your beauty tips for new mums…
Get a mani/pedi and eyelash tint, at least you will look good even if you don’t feel it. Also, I love REN Moroccan Rose Bath Oil from Space NK.

What style advice would you give a mum-to-be?
Spend some money on a decent pair of jeans, 7 For All Mankind are great. Also there are plenty of good non-maternity clothes which can be just as flattering and much cheaper, just buy a size or two up.

What is still on the wish list?
To ensure that Like Minders remains the best babysitting and childcare agency in London and I would love to take it nationwide, oh and maybe a little brother or sister for Max…
